Is ICC anti-Israel?

30 UN member states do not recognize Israel and vote against Israel in UN. This is just absurd to recognize UN anti-Israel stand. If ICC base it's statements on anti-Israel UN resolutions, assuming by default settlements illegal, then this is a good basis to assume ICC is anti-Israel or anti-Semitic organisation ??

"illegal settlements": hate, racism and propaganda?

Statements, resolutions, clams that Israel settlements are illegal do raise questions. Arguments that these statements can be seen as racists are following:

1. Claiming Israel settlements are illegal assumes transfert or deportation of Jewish families from Judea and Samaria , like it was in Gaza, (to the border that international community desires Jews are permitted to live? = Green line) - sounds racist?
2. There are 2mio Arabs living in Israel with Israel passports, requirements to createcreate Palestine with a condition to remove Jews from Judea and Samaria - sounds racist?
3.  About 800'000 Jews left Arab countries as refugees. creation of  another Arab state without Jews - sounds racist?
4. International law is clearly recognises historic connection of Jews to palestine and had given mandate to great Britain to establish national home for Jews in palestine and have Jewish people to develop Palestine. Jewish people created a state that leads in science and innovation. Having UN resolution 2334 in year 2016 calling Jewish settlement illegal sounds not only racist but a complete absurd?
5. Creating a state for a Palestinians Arabs without Jews, security for Jews (assuming if Jews are left in new Palestinians state they will be killed and PA openly pays terrorists) , rights of Jews to buy property equal to others -----souds racist?

Trump administration decision declaring Jewish settlements are not illegal based on legal review is logical, correct and normal.

Blaming US and Trump on doing something bad, destroying peace, ending 2 states solution without clear argumentation sounds propaganda and absurd.

As all countries including Israel agree on creation of a state for Palestinians Arabs - this state should be created without deportation of Jews and with security for Jewish settlers if they deside to live in this state and not agree to depart.ootions of territory swaps was discussed and voiced by prior US administration's - by Bush.

SRF: news or propaganda?

Swiss TV - SRF is funded by Swiss taxpayers. I expect to be able to hear news, facts, correct information and sound analysis vs. someones opinion.

Here is the news on US decision and 18 Nov announcement:

Turning now to Israel, the Trump administration is reversing the Obama administration’s approach towards Israeli settlements.

After carefully studying all sides of the legal debate, this administration agrees with President Reagan. The establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not per se inconsistent with international law.

Here is how this news are presented on Swiss TV: end of 2 states solution !?

https://www.srf.ch/play/tv/redirect/detail/13e89e97-8c11-40ef-889d-3abc3759ff48

Could we get facts on the topic if settlements are legal or not? And what is legal stand of Trump administration. Why it reverses Obama policy (as promised before Trump's elections)?

Isn't it that SRF draw conclusion without properly presenting facts to influence auditorium, f.e. making a point that US is going something bad by ending 2 state solution while announcement was on legality of settlement?

As 2mio of Palestinians Arabs are safely living in Israel, why 600k settlers can not safely live in Palestine?

Public opinion, mass media and schoolbooks

Comparison of Israel to Nazi Germany (or even Jews to Nazi) are made frequently in discussions and internet. I heard these comparisons in public twice. Individuals making the statements were very convinced in what they are saying and not at all afraid to be persieved as antisemites or people making baseless, wrong accusations.

Are these people antisemites?
In my view - yes. This is also included in EU definition of antisemitism.
There is an argument I heard that they do not. Here it is:

Listen, they do not know anything about Israel. You know that mass media do not report truth, brainwashing public. Many people hate Israel, so that person is not different from others, no big deal. It may be that these people want to say that Israel is very bad and use Nazi comparison for this purpose.

Indeed, I had the following conversation:
A: what the crimes Israel is doing... and America supports
B: what do you mean?
A: Israel started war in Lebanon
B: it is not Israel started. Israel is not even blamed for that. Israel is blamed only for 'unpropotional response's
A: exactly! You do not kill 2 million people for 3 soldiers
B: where 2 million figure is coming from?
A: silent in confusion

Many people around know nothing about genocide in Darfur or Yazidis. But mass media covered war in Lebanon so close with lot of video (same picture fir 24 hours coverage on some channels) but without enough facts, that population may bern left to invent facts like above on their own.

For those having similar situations and conversations with collegues, coworkers or strangers, below is my attempt of comparisons or arguments that can be used to address such comparisons.

Nazi Germany Israel International Community
Race theory and plan to eliminate people, including jewishSeek recognition and peace with Arabs and Muslim states.Ignores not recognition of israel existence by UN member states, unproportional blames Israel, do no enough to struggle against anti-Semitism
Eliminated Jewish life in places it occupied. Jewish people of Europe with their language and place of living are no longer existing Arabs live in every city in Israel, palestine, middle East. Israeli Arabs have Israel citizentsipAccepts the fact that Israeli and jews can not travel to some countries, sporsmen barred from particpaton in international competitions. Have Jewish families living in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem as occupants assuming jewish  families to be removed like it happened in Gaza, leaving these places ''Judenrein"
There were appr 9 mio jews in europe before russian revolution and pogroms, 10mio Jews in Europe before WWII / Holocaust, only 3 mio after WWII. Jewish population now is appr pre-WWII level of 16 Mio worldwide There were 300k Arabs in palestine before Zionism development, 900k before British mandate, now 13 mio incl.2mio Israeli citizens Recognizes  Israel in 1949 borders (called by some 'auschwitz' borders) that are 30 km from East to West in the country middle. Surrounding by countries that started several wars to destroy Israel.
Jews were not bobmbing German cities from concentration camps Gaza, that often compared in Europe to a concentration camp, has population and gathermdnt seeking Israel destruction and terrorising Israel with thousands of rockets and bombs.  Blames Israel, unproportional number of UN resolutions against Israel. PA pays terrorist for attacks against Jews, Europe and international pay PA.
Jews could not escape from europe and Nazi concentration camps except rare cases of 'trades'.  Gaza has a border with Egypt. Israel can not stop re-settlement of arabs from gaza in arabic countries if they wish do. Israel and US offer billions of dollars to invest in the middle East. International law prohibits 'transfer of population'. Palestinian Arabs are hostages of conflict and Hamas.

Another argument I seen many years ago in internet and continue to hear it is this. Israel should not have been created because Palestinians Arabs have nothing to do with German Nazi crimes against Jewish people and should not have pay a price for that.

This argument implies that people think Israel is appeared just after  WWII as a present to Jews. This is not so because Jews were  always living and travelling to palestine. Migrations related to Zionism started in 1882 and success of Jews in developing palestine was reflected by League of nation's mandate which created a border of Jewish national home in palestine and ask Jews to settle and develop the land. Other mandates defined borders of other states like Egypt, Syria etc. Jordan was part of initial mandate to palestine.

This argument also makes no sense as Jerusalem muftij have cooperated with Hitler.

And in addition, people making this argument do not propose any solution, that would represent justice to Jewish people. They are concerned just of injustice towards Palestinians Arabs.

For many years of antiisrael stand of Europe, the blames towards Israel were changed many times. First accusations I remember were that it is less Jews died in conflict vs. Arabs, then that Israel exersize force vs. unarmed peasants, to unproportional use of force etc. Now this is more and more often Jews and Israel are blamed for unjustice towards palestinian Arabs, that fact of creation of Israel was injustice. So Israel is guilty just because it exists. And this implies that palestinian Arabs have rights to resistance, which can be everything including terror attacks. This is difficult to voice clearly as such position is anti-Semitic, but this view, I believe, is behind many cases of so called  'Israel critic'.

The reasonable argument I see here is that those Jews who left Europe and settled in mandate palestine have escaped Nazi concentration camps and saved there lives. After Evian conference of 1938 Jews were refused with options to move out of Europe to safer places. If moving Jews to palestine that saved lives of people is seen as unjustice towards palestinian Arabs, then we have a moral issue I Europe and argument of unjustice to Arabs does not sound to me at all. Also blaming Zionist on their agenda to legally establish Jewish home and save Jews from pogroms and anti-Semitic criminals, sounds absurd to me.

What we need examine is if restriction to Jews to migrate to palestineb were criminal, amoral or just wrong.

In addition, wars to destroy Israel just after 2 years of Holocaust with no or little support to Israel from democratic countries, needs to be evaluated. Oppositely, war started by Arabs counties to destroy Israel are sometimes rationalized as something self understandable.

AKAD book GS 512 9783715536835 for Swiss schools, page 9, describes massacre in Deir Yassin calling Jewish militants ruthless ('rücksichtslose') and mentions German and polish antisemites in this regard ('deutsche und polnische Antisemiten').

This book text in my view needs to be open for public as parents need to know what kids get in school. AKAD should send this entire book text to review by specialists in anti-Semitism.

And for this particular paragraph on page 9, I would have asked the following questions:

1. Who are German and Polish Antisemiten'? Hitler, other Nazi criminals? Are German Nazi just antisemtes?
Is there something to do with neglecting Holocaust or not?
2. If they do not mean Nazi in this sentence, why do not they mention pogroms in Russian empire? 2mln Jews left Russia/Ukraine and word pogrom itself has Russian language origin.
3. Do they compare Jewish militants with German fashists as they mention German anti-Semites? Or can t be understand this way by Swiss students
4. Isn't it clear that civil war is always criminal unjustice, ruthless on both sides? And Deir Yassin massacre, where Jewish fighters were killed and wounded as well, was an operation during civil war. This can be compared to other massacres, but has totally nothing to do with ''german antisemites'?
5. Why do not they equally emotioaly describe Arabs and Jewish pogroms in palestine. Actions of arabs militants?

Almost every paragraph in AKAD book raises questions on how this book happen to be education material in Swiss schools. It must be open and reviewed by specialists in history, extremism and anti-Semitism to ensure there is correct representation of facts and no sights of anti-Semitism?

Palestine, books, schools.

League of Nations mandate to establish Jewish national home in Palestine includes the following:

1.An appropriate Jewish agency ...assist and take part in the development of the country.(art4)

2.close settlement by Jews on the land, including State lands and waste lands not required for public purposes.(art6)

Now, after 100 years after mandate and more than 100 years of Jewish development for Palestine, these objective are successfully achieved:

  1. Israel is a successful country - one of world leaders in science and technology
  2. Population has grown, including Palestinian Arabs increased  from appoximately 300 thousands before Zionism to appoximately 14 Mio ( incl. 2mio within so called 'green line' )
  3. Israel is a popular turistic destination, people of many nationlities incl. Arabs are happy to get Israel citizenship.
  4. Many other successes and achievements.

Does it impress antisemites, Israel boycotters or other members of 'israel critic' society? Surely not!!!

If you prepare to your school exams with AKAD book GS 512(9783715536835) or any other, please consider the following questions:

Nahost und AfrikaGeschichte. Die Welt auf dem Weg ins 21. Jahrhundert 2/3. AKAD GS 512

1. Does your book mention League of Nations mandate to Palestine and other mandate? If yes, in which terms?

2. Does your book mention Israel only in negative content, making a point that Israel/Zionism is a source of problem for Palestine? In comparison to other lands?

3. Does your book blame someone particular for conflict and 'problems'? Who does your book blame:

League of Nations / United Nations?
Great Britain?
Ottomans or Turks?
Arabs?
Jews?
Zionists as Jews and non-Jews?
USA or USSR?
German Nazi and European antisemites?

4. What is the blame is about?

5. Do you see your book balanced or presenting only anti-Israel set of arguments? Can this help growing anti-Semitism in Europe?

6. Do you think text of your book should be in open access and examined by specialists in antisemitism and general public for possible propagada and poor education quality?

Donnerstag, 24. Januar 2019

Palestine, Education, schools.

Right of Israel to exist is still a discussion point unfortunately. There are 3 major views of  "Israel critic":

1. Israel creation was fully legitimate and good. As many Arabs are living in former mandate territory, there should be 2 states for 2 people. Israel should meet internationally desired borders, so called ' green line'. Main critic is that Israel is not giving up Jerusalem and some land in Judea and Samaria. It assumes if Israel does so, there will be a solution = peace.

2. Israel creation was not legitimate and/or unjust to Palestinian Arabs. ''Zionists" are guilty and to be blamed, but as Israel is already existing, 2 state solution is practical way to solve the conflict. Palestinian Arabs have right to "resistance".

3. Israel creation was criminal and Israel should not exist. Palestinian Arabs have right to "resistance".

Most interesting example was a statement of Helen Thomas.

https://youtu.be/RQcQdWBqt14

If you prepare to your history exams with AKAD book GS512 or any other book, please ask yourself the following questions.

1. If your textbook make a point that legality of creation of State of Israel is doubtful and/or was act of injustice.
Will student understand the book in a way that Israel should not exist?

2. Or is you book only doubts a division of land and borders?

3. Does your book similarly question borders or existance of other states in the region - Lebanon, Jordan, Syria? When these states were createf?

4. Can you conclude from your book that Jewish people have no rights to self-determination because they were minority (in every country)? Should some land belong to someone on the basis of percent population at any particular time point? Do people migrate at all?

5. Have state of Palestine ever existed before and what was the border of it?

6. If you think that your school book is simply unbalanced, or fail some logic, what could be reason for it ?

7. Do you think it is good that your book is reviewed by other historians and experts in antisemitism?

Palestine, anti-Semitism and school education.

EU working definition of anti-Semitism includes the following examples ''of the ways in which antisemitism manifests itself with regard to the State of Israel taking into account the overall context could include:
  • Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
  • Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.''
https://european-forum-on-antisemitism.org/definition-of-antisemitism/english-english

If you prepare to your history exams with AKAD book GS512 or any other book, please ask yourself the following questions.

1. Is there any particular blame over middle-east conflicts and 'problems in Palestine'? Who is blamed? Is this blame somehow emotionally charged? Or not?

2. Do you think your book doubts legal right of State of Israel to exist? Does it make a point that creation of Israel was wrong or doubtful?

3. What is written about right if Jewish people for self-determination? If anything.

4. Do you think connection of Jewish people to Palestine and Jewish history in is neglected?

5. Do you have a feel that terror against Israel is somehow rationalized in your book or not?

6. If you think that your school book is simply unbalanced, or fail some logic, what could be reason for it ?

7. Do you think it is good that your book is reviewed by other historians and experts in antisemitism?

Palestine, logic and schoolbooks

If 'B' is after 'A', it is not necessary because of 'A'.
If 'D' is after 'A', 'B','C', it is strange to write that 'D' happens after 'B' , especially if 'D' is something not good. There might be an intent to drive someone to a non-logical conclusion that bad 'D' would not have happened because of 'B'.

Let us have an example.

'A' - Ottoman Empire is defeated and land is split into different 'Mandate' lands: Syria, Palestine, Mesopotamia etc. League of Nations gives mandate to Great Britain to establish National Home for Jewish people in palestine mandate land, to settle and develope the land with a help of Jewish people. (Which is successfully achieved now). Britain gives about 80% of land to Hashemites, Transjordan is formed.

'B' - after revolts and military unrests, United Nations recommends to split the rest of mandate land and form 2 states - one for Jews, other for Arabs. British power is ended and State of Israel declares it's indpendence.

'C' Arab states declare their intention to destroy Israel and push Jews into the see and attack Israel. Palestinian state is not formed despite land is occupied by Arab countries.

'D' - year of military conflicts and a peace process.

If the book or article you read states that military conflicts in 'Palestine' started in 1948 AFTER creation of State of Israel, this is not only factually wrong, it also fails logic and moral ground. It would be more logical to assume that military conflicts started after Arab countries attacked Israel, or may be tell student of League of Nation mandate and Balfour declaration...

If you are preparing to your history exams, please read your book carefully, see if Israel and Jews are blamed on their existence and denied history and right to self-determination.

If you prepare to your exam with AKAD book GS 512(9783715536835) , please check logic applied in this book? Think why book is written this way and if there is a particul blames or libels in the text.
